Advertisement for Faculty Positions

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, an Institute of National Importance, has been established by the Government of India, Ministry of Education in 2016 at Jammu. IIM Jammu is looking for dedicated and committed faculty members who believe in institution building and have passion for excellence.

Applications are invited for the following positions of Professors, Professor of Practice in the areas of:

Business Communication Business Policy & Strategy
Business Law Economics & Business Environment
Entrepreneurship Finance and Accounting
IT Systems & Analytics Marketing
OB/HRM Operations and Supply Chain

Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to make relevant intellectual contribution to
experienced and potential managers through teaching, training, research and published work. Candidates should have a strong academic background and understanding of current developments in the related field. Faculty members are expected to carry out research, design and teach courses, engage in institution development and conduct training program and undertake consultancy.

Professors

1. Minimum Qualifications & Experience Requirements for Faculty Positions

For academic positions, the qualification, experience, etc. shall be governed by the Ministry of Education guidelines.

Professor (Level 14 A)–Pay Scale Rs. 1,59,100-2,20,200, Entry Pay–Rs. 1,59,100:

Ph.D. in the appropriate branch with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) in the preceding degree, with a very good academic record throughout. Minimum 10 years of post-Ph.D. teaching/research/industrial experience of which at least 4 years post Ph.D. experience should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IIMs, IISc Bangalore and IISERs or at an equivalent level in any such other Indian or foreign institution/ institutions of comparable standards. He/ She should have high research, training and consulting credentials.

  • Ph. D. with 10 years of post-Ph.D. experience in teaching/research/industrial experience of out of which 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IIMs, IISc Bangalore and IISERs or at an equivalent level in any such other Indian or foreign institution/ institutions of comparable standards.
  • First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Master's and Graduation Degrees
  • First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Class XII and Class X.
  • 5% relaxation for SC/ST/DAP and 3% relaxation for OBC in X, XII, Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.
  • Minimum Two Papers in A*/A** Category Journals or Four Research Paper in "A - Category Journals or Eight in B – Category Journals".
  • Preference for FPM/Ph.D. guidance.

 

2. Categorisation of Quality of Journal Publications

IIM Jammu follows Journal Quality categorization as below:

Equivalence of Journal Category will be as follow:

  • One Paper in A*/A** Rated Journal = Two Papers in A-Rated Journals=Four Papers in B -Category Journals.
  • Two Cases along with Teaching Note published in Harvard Case Publishing/ Richard Ivey/ Emerald will be considered equivalent to one paper in ‘B' - Category Journals.

The pay carries all other allowances such as DA (currently 50% of basic), Accommodation (18% of basic), LTC, Medical Allowance, Children Education Allowance, NPS, Reimbursement of Telephone Bills, Incentive for Research Publications, Faculty Development Fund for attending National and International Conferences, Membership of Professional Bodies etc. as per IIM Jammu Rules. Faculty members are permitted to pursue MDPs and Management Consulting as per IIM Jammu Rules.

Professor of Practice 

Professor of Practice

In order to be considered for the Professor of Practice, the individual must have substantial relevant experience (minimum 20 years for Professor of Practice with at least 5 years at a senior level position) in industry or government with demonstrated understanding of and impact on practice and has the interest and potential to teach Leadership Development Program (LDP) courses as full- time activity.

The Minimum qualification will be as per regular positions of Professor.

  • Ph.D. in the appropriate branch is desirable, but not essential. However, a lack of Ph.D. must be offset by demonstrated domain knowledge, obtained from the ‘field’.
  • First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Master's and Graduation Degrees.
  • First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Class XII and Class X.

Depending on the relevant years of experience with demonstrated understanding of and impact on practice and has the interest and potential to teach Leadership Development Program (LDP) courses, the candidate could be called “Professor of Practice”.

Professor of Practice will be appointed initially for a period of one/two years and is renewable every year for a maximum period of up to 5 years based on his performance. In both the cases the retirement age will be 65 years.

The overall compensation of “Professor of Practice”  will be equivalent to that of regular Full Professor. Selected candidates will get Consolidated Compensation, Accommodation, Medical Allowance, Reimbursement of Telephone Bills, Incentive for Research Publications, Faculty Development Fund for attending National Conferences, Membership of Professional Bodies etc. as per IIM Jammu Rules. Faculty members are permitted to pursue MDPs and Management Consulting after meeting the minimum teaching requirements as per IIM Jammu Rules.

Senior Consultants

Senior academicians and professionals are required at IIM Jammu for taking up assignments as consultant in developing the academic and research programs, academic administration and taking classes at degree awarding programs, organising senior level management development programs (MDPs) and conducting consulting assignments.

Consolidated Emoluments: Rs 1,50,000 PM

Qualification

Post-Graduation in any stream or Ph. D from Reputed Institute / University

Experience

Any outstanding scholar or eminent person with above 55 years of age with minimum 20 years of experience may be appointed as Senior Consultant, whose association with the Institute would help furtherance of the academic activities of the Institute.

Job Profile

Senior Consultant will  be given responsibility to head a ‘Centre of Excellence’ or any major activity of the Institute and may be designated as Head of the Centre or the Activity.

He/she will teach a minimum two courses in UG/PG programs, conduct at least one MDP and organise one international conference per year on the contemporary issues relevant to the Institute.

Senior Consultants will get incentives for research publications, training and consulting as per IIM Jammu Rules.

Tenure

The appointment may be for an initial period of one/ two years, which may be extended as per the requirement of the Institute subject to satisfactory performance. The Upper age limit for the senior consultant to serve the institute will be 70 years.

Senior Consultants will be appointed at a maximum consolidated remuneration of Rs1,50,000 per month. In addition, he/she will be provided with accommodation on campus subject to the availability or a fixed HRA of Rs. 15000/-, actual telephone reimbursement up to Rs. 1500/- pm, medical allowances as per IIM Jammu Rules. All other terms and conditions will be applicable as per the IIM Jammu Rules for contract employees.

Candidates shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview before the Faculty Selection Committee.

  • All qualifications must be from UGC recognized University/ Deemed University or AICTE approved autonomous institution (wherever applicable). The courses offered by autonomous institutions should be equivalent to the relevant course approved/ recognized by Association of Indian University (AIU).
  • Relaxation in qualification and experience/higher start in the time scale may be considered in the case of exceptionally bright candidates.
  • Candidates called for interview to fill a vacancy, may be considered for lower post if they are otherwise found suitable.
  • The Institute will prepare area wise merit list which will be valid for one year and appointment letter will be issued as per the requirement of the Institute.
  • For regular appointment, there would be a probation period of 2 years.
  • Depending on the academic credentials of the candidate, the Institute may consider them for an offer on a contractual basis of one/two years.
  • Higher start in the pay scale may be considered in case of exceptionally deserving candidates.
